#KONWEEKLY: Manhyia Tour, Gov’t engages media and political parties
On 20th March 2020, I started the day on UTV providing education and information on our national efforts to win the battle against Covid-19.
Later in the day, myself, Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah and Mayor of Kumasi Osei Assibey Antwi were taken on a tour of how Manhyia Palace has responded to the President’s calls to observe preventive etiquette of the novel Coronavirus.
On 23rd March 2020, myself together with members of the Government of Ghana COVID 19 sensitization Team engaged teams from Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, Ghana Journalists Association and Private Newspapers Association of Ghana with further sessions on sustaining public education at this critical time.
On 26th March 2020, Government called on the leadership of the various political parties to support measures to fight the Coronavirus in the country and not politicize the matter.
I admonished the various political parties to “leave this engagement as Ghanaians ready to fight the pandemic and not political parties. Hence, we need ideas that must not shape partisanship”
The meeting was attended by representatives from the NPP, NDC, CPP, NDP and the LPG.
